Our Team

Jo Morton

Proprietor

You will often see Jo in the week around the yard.

Emma Elliott

Instructor

Having come from a non-horsey family, I learned to ride at the local riding school. I never owned my own horse until I was an adult, so I have a strong ethos that anyone can achieve success if they're determined, committed, and given correct, supportive coaching. The welfare of horse and rider is paramount in my coaching — both need to enjoy the work and understand the training given, building confidence and strength together. I'm 100% committed to building confidence and skill, on the flat and over fences.

Jack Swinnock

Maintenance / Handy Man

You'll see Jack throughout the week and on weekends, helping with horse care and general maintenance on the yard.

Our Horses and Ponies

One of our more advanced rides — very safe but can be forward. Loves her show jumping.

Blossom

A very safe ride for the younger or novice rider, though can be pushed for the more advanced rider. Loves carrots and being groomed.

Bluey

13.3hh · Mare · Skewbald · Irish Cob X

One of our more advanced ponies — very friendly, loves a cuddle. Favourite activity: show jumping.

Bobbie

14.2hh · Gelding · Piebald · Irish Cob

A yard favourite, popular with clients across every level from beginner to advanced. Loves his riders and his Likits.

Dazzle

14.3hh · Gelding · Piebald · Welsh Cob

Usually found in his stable looking for fuss from a passer-by. Very friendly, mostly used in private lessons or advanced groups.

Dream

14hh · Mare · Cream/White Tobiano · Welsh Cob

An unusual colour — cream and white tobiano. Sweet-natured and loves her work; one of our newer additions.

Jack

13hh · Gelding · Black · Welsh Section B

Our youngest pony at just 3. Has started his education and is now turned away to mature before restarting next year. Very friendly and cuddly.

Lady

14.2hh · Mare · Black · Irish Cob

One of our friendliest ponies — loves teaching people the ropes, and enjoys her stud muffins and kisses.

Lulu

15.1hh · Mare · Piebald · Traditional Gypsy Cob

Usually found in the field eating or flat out asleep. Her canter has been described as an armchair. Loves to barrel race.

Magic

13.1hh · Mare · Black · Cob

Well known for her beautiful moustache. Good on and off the lead rein — generally a very good girl who loves her scratches.

Moonie

12.2hh · Gelding · Grey · Welsh Section B

One of our cheeky chaps with a big character. Very loving, especially with his favourite fruity treats.

Pickles

10hh · Mare · Chestnut · Shetland

Our resident Shetland — very friendly and loves eating. Known for a love-heart marking and an Afro-like mane. The mascot of Poppyfield Equestrian.

Polo

12hh · Mare · Grey · Welsh Section A

One of our smallest, cheekiest ponies. Likes her food and treats — and yes, she does like a Polo now and then.

Skye

13.2hh · Mare · Tribald · Welsh Cob

One of our mid-sized ponies, great for small children and adults. Loves jumping and grazing — good for nervous through to advanced riders.

Snowy

13.3hh · Mare · Piebald · Cob

One of our safest ponies, good on and off the lead rein for teaching little ones to ride. Loves carrots and cuddles in the field.

Tammy

11.2hh · Mare · Grey · Welsh Section A

One of our smaller ponies, great for building a rider's confidence on and off the lead rein. Loves her salt licks and her best friend Magic.
