Please use our contact form or call us — we can't take bookings or cancellations by email. There's an answerphone service if no one picks up; leave a message and we'll get back to you. We're open 7 days a week.
We always try to maintain continuity with instructors, though please bear in mind factors like sickness and holidays. If you'd like to try a different instructor, just let the team know and we can arrange it.
Payment is required in full when you book in for your lesson, by cash or cheque — we don't currently accept card payments. Cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice, or the lesson may still be charged.
We have horses and ponies of various shapes, sizes and types, suited to most levels of rider. See our current horses and ponies on the Meet the Team page.
New clients: please arrive at least 20 minutes early so our team can welcome you and you can complete a Rider Registration Form. Regular clients: 10 minutes is enough — we run a punctual timetable, so arriving late may cost you lesson time.
Each horse has a weight limit that changes as it ages or its fitness changes. Riding a horse above its limit may not injure it immediately, but repeated use can cause back and leg problems. All riders complete a Rider Registration Form at their first lesson, noting height and weight. Our current upper limit is 14½ stone — please contact us if you're above this, as we may have additional horses available.
Riding hat — we have hats in a range of sizes meeting current safety standards, available to hire for £1. Footwear — sturdy, smooth-soled, with a ½ inch heel so your foot doesn't slip through the stirrup; no open-toed shoes. Clothing — jogging trousers, thick leggings or comfortable stretchy trousers (not ¾ length); a sweatshirt or T-shirt is fine, but no strappy tops. Jewellery — remove where possible, except a watch or wedding ring; no looped earrings. Mouth braces or glasses should be removed if possible. Empty your pockets before riding — never carry keys or a phone. Hair — long hair should be tied back. Whips may be carried by all except complete beginners on the lunge or very novice children. Any safety equipment you buy should be professionally fitted.
